Devon County Council urges bikers to report road defects

Devon County Council is urging motorcyclists who visit or live in the area to report road defects - such as pot-holes and diesel spills - so that they can be repaired before they develop into an accident.

While a pot-hole might cause a slight inconvenience to a car driver, they can be potentially disastrous for someone on two wheels.

Similarly, diesel spills from goods vehicles' over-filled fuel tanks can make roundabouts and junctions lethal for motorcyclists.

Running under the banner of "See it, report it," the campaign urges all road users to report these defects.

An online reporting tool has been developed, to assist with recording the required details, and can be found on the Devon County Council website, along with further guidance:

Devon County Council are rapidly building a reputation as the country's most biker-friendly county, thanks to a positive and inclusive policy towards motorcyclists.

Their regular newsletter - "Bringing Bikers out of the Blindspot" - is part of their programme to improve safety on Devon's roads for motorcyclists, and is just one of the initiatives available from their dedicated biking pages:

Particularly popular is the council's road safety film, titled "A Day Out in Devon", available here on YouTube.
